This is such a fun and creative class.
With the use of stories and props, such as scarves, ribbons and wands we dance our way through the class.
Our Baby Ballerinas are soon able to stand in 1st position, point their toes and dance with poise and grace. This is a fantastic starting point to introduce young children to dance.
Watch their confidence grow!
Yelo Dance Company's Baby Ballerinas classes were established in 2007 by Miss Lorraine, Principal of Yelo Dance Company.
Having specialised in teaching Pre school dance classes in different settings, Miss Lorraine wanted to extend her classes to pre school children in the Community.
Our Baby Ballerinas classes are relaxed and fun enabling children to be part of a regular, enjoyable but progressive class. Classes have been designed for the enjoyment of chidren aged 2-4 years. Using the IDTA ballet syllabus. Classes are structured and creative, and aim to teach your child the basics needed for ballet class while having fun.
Our Baby Ballerinas are able to progress to taking thier very first IDTA ballet exam, and graduate into our main school's dance Programme, where Tap, Jazz and Acro are also on the Timetable.
Benefits of our Baby Ballerinas Classes:
Physical Development: Ballet helps young children develop essential motor skills such as balance, coordination, and flexibility. Through basic movements like pliés, tendus, and jumps, children improve their physical fitness and body awareness.
Cognitive Skills: Learning dance routines and following instructions enhance cognitive abilities such as memory, concentration, and listening skills. The structured nature of ballet classes also helps children develop discipline and focus.
Social Interaction: Our Baby Ballerinas classes provide an opportunity for children to interact with their peers, fostering social skills such as teamwork, cooperation, and respect for others. Group activities and partner work help children build friendships and learn to work together.
Emotional Expression: Dance allows children to express their emotions and creativity in a non-verbal way. Ballet encourages self-expression and helps children develop a sense of confidence and self-esteem as they master new skills and perform for others.
Introduction to Arts and Culture: Early exposure to ballet and classical music introduces children to the world of performing arts and culture. This can spark a lifelong interest in dance, music, and artistic expression.
For many children, Baby Ballerinas classes are the first step in a lifelong journey with dance. Whether they continue with ballet or explore other forms of dance and movement, the foundational skills and love for dance developed in these early years can have a lasting impact. The joy and enthusiasm seen in Baby Ballerinas as they twirl and leap across the studio are a testament to the magic and wonder of introducing young children to the world of ballet, giving them their "Time to Shine."
